Frederike is an expert at the intersection of geopolitics, emerging technology, and tech policy, and the founder of new possible, a consulting firm advising multilateral organisations, governments, foundations and companies on technology strategy and regulatory policy. She is also a Senior Advisor to the AI Now Institute on AI industrial policy and competition in the EU and a regular commentator for MIT Tech Review Germany.

Frederike has more than a decade of experience in shaping technology for the public interest, including as the founding Director of the European AI and Society Fund, the inaugural Director of the Technology and Rights Division at Human Rights Watch, Special Adviser for the Vice-President of the European Commission, and Director for Corporate Exploitation at Privacy International.

As a policy expert on emerging technology Frederike has given expert evidence in the EU parliament, the UN and the House of Lords. Her writing and commentary regularity appears in global media. She is also the co-author and editor of two books — one on data and justice (Nicolai Publishing, 2018, German) and one on AI and hype (Fake AI, Meatspace Press 2021).
