Marielle-Sophie Düh She/Her

Marielle is a research fellow and PhD student at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin (WZB). She is part of the research group "Politics of Digitalization" at the WZB, which is jointly organized with the Technology, Power, and Domination unit at the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society.

Her work is part of an ORA-funded project on digital sovereignty that collaborates with the CNRS Centre Internet et Société in Paris, and the Université de Montréal. The project's research aims to enhance the understanding of digital sovereignty by analyzing governance mechanisms and discourses. Marielle's focus is particularly on the EU and China.

She holds a BA in Communication Science and China Studies, and an MA from King's College London in Big Data in Culture and Society. During her time at King’s, Marielle served as a research assistant studying the digital infrastructures of mobile apps, focusing on third-party tracking and SDKs.

Previously, she has lived, worked, and studied in various international contexts, including Austria, China, Germany, South Africa, and the UK.

Before joining the WZB, she was employed at the cultural department of the Goethe Institut in Beijing and also contributed as a curator for science and technology in the re:publica programme team.
