Whether it’s expressing love to Alexa or using ChatGPT as a therapist: artificial intelligence has become more than just a tool for many people. It has become a helper, colleague, friend, or even a potential romantic partner. But what does this new intimacy to intelligent technologies mean for our understanding of relationships – both in our private lives and at work? What influence does AI have on us, the decisions we make, and how we interact with our fellow human beings?

Psychologist and human-machine interaction expert Marisa Tschopp has been researching how the integration of AI technologies is changing our habits, professional aspirations, and social relationships for years. She makes it clear that developing a healthy relationship with these technologies and reflecting on the future we want to shape together is now more important than ever. At #rp26, the psychologist will provide insights into current research on human-AI relationships, mental health, and ethical issues, inviting participants to consciously question their own approach to AI.

Marisa Tschopp is a senior researcher at scip AG, a leading cybersecurity company based in Zurich, and an affiliated senior researcher at the Human-IST Institute at the University of Fribourg. There, she researches artificial intelligence from a psychological perspective, with a particular focus on ethical implications. For many years, she has also been involved with Women in AI, an international non-profit organization promoting women* in the field of artificial intelligence. She has written many articles, book chapters, and scientific publications about her work and regularly speaks at international conferences, including TEDx.
