In 2024 about 4 billion people will be voting across the world – with high stakes. In the past 10 years, the influences of platforms and the changing of public spheres gave rise to the spread of misinformation and presented new challenges for the democratic process. 2024 marks a new challenge for democracies, contending with AI-driven disinformation campaigns.

In this keynote J. Bob Alotta will share an analysis of past elections, and how social media platforms have kept promises to improve content moderation and algorithms. The keynote will critically examine which platforms have taken significant steps to protect free elections and implement safety precautions.

Drawing on the lessons from past elections, Bob will offer a forward-looking perspective on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in 2024. They will discuss potential strategies and collaborations needed to ensure the integrity and safety of democratic processes in the digital age.

We want to check who cared enough to actually protect elections. And, who took precautions to safeguard impartial and free information around campaigns.
