Tech and human rights summits are at an inflection point. These spaces are failing to bring the voices of the Global Majority, especially those experiencing intersecting forms of oppression, into the conversation. From passport discrimination to lack of connectivity and reduced speaking spots, systemic barriers continue to plague our convening spaces, in-person and online. Since we cannot solve these issues alone, we invite your contribution on ways to mitigate such barriers and facilitate meaningful participation. We will not build a rights-based future if those harmed by tech aren’t at the center of these conversations.

In line with the above, this meet-up seeks to connect with the unique re:publica community and collaboratively work towards the following takeaways:

  1. Connect with allies within the tech, art, government, and civil society ecosystem.
  2. Identify and overcome systemic barriers that continue to exclude marginalized communities from digital rights convening spaces.
  3. To create a network to facilitate engagement, identify convergence spaces, and take action to increase participation and equitable decision-making.
